Northern Belle

The Belmond Northern Belle reflects the style of England's 1930s 'Belle' trains and the Pullman carriages of the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express.

Guests travel through some of Britain's most beautiful scenery while enjoying fine wine and exquisite cuisine using produce from the landscapes they pass through.

Departing from regional stations throughout the UK, the train is a destination in itself as it visits cities, castles and major events.

The Train

The Belmond Northern Belle train entered service in 2000. Its mission was to provide the ultimate in stylish day excursions and short breaks, departing from cities and towns throughout the north of Britain.

Combining classic craftsmanship and contemporary engineering, a trip aboard recreates the elegance and comfort of train travel at its finest.

The six dining carriages are named after great British castles or stately homes. They display marquetry, fabrics and brass fittings specifically commissioned from British craftsmen.

As the train takes you on a journey through the beautiful British countryside, the chefs will lead you on an equally exciting gastronomic adventure. Each course is inspired by the views.

Menus feature the finest seasonal delicacies, crafted into classic and innovative dishes prepared by our executive head chef and his team.

Stepping on board is like stepping back in time, to an age when train travel was the epitome of sophistication.

Much remains the same as it was then—the exquisitely appointed carriages, the liveried stewards, the sumptuous black-tie dinners. However, our journeys are as much a celebrations of the present as they are of the past. They are a great excuse to dress up and have fun.

The Northern Belle transports passengers to Britain's most fascinating destination. Guests may wander the golden crescents of Bath or the cobbled streets of Canterbury. Visit Edinburgh's museums and galleries, history-drenched York, or the dazzling lights of London.
